British Airways Flights to Florida

British Airways are currently offering around 30 direct flights to Florida each week from the UK into Orlando, Miami and Tampa. Timetable last checked May 19, 2010.

Note that is always possible to fly into a number of Florida airports via British Airways code-share partner, American Airlines, routing via one of their North American hubs such as Chicago.

Remember that all return flights from Florida to the UK fly overnight so you arrive in the UK on the following day.

Miami (MIA)

British Airways operate two direct flights to Miami from London Heathrow each day, departing at 9:40 am and 1:40 pm.

British Airways also offer a daily flight to Miami in conjunction with their code share partner, American Airlines via Orlando.

Orlando (MCO)

From London Gatwick you can fly direct to Orlando or Tampa. There is one British Airways flight every day of the week non stop to Orlando leaving at 11:20 am except for Tuesday when it leaves at 11:50 am. On Wednesday and Friday there is a second flight at 1:20 pm. It is also possible to fly via Miami.

British Airways also offer a daily flight (except Sunday) to Orlando in conjunction with their code share partner, American Airlines. The British Airways flights depart London Heathrow to Chicago at 11:45 am and then onward via American Airlines to Orlando.

Tampa (TPA)

The non stop British Airways flights from Gatwick to Tampa are every day of the week except Tuesdays and Thursdays, departing at 12:25 pm.

Checked Baggage Allowance

British Airways have amended their checked baggage allowances on domestic and long haul flights.Checked baggage can be up to 90cm x 75cm x 43cm (35.5ins x 29.5ins x 16ins) including the handle, pockets and wheels.

On flights to the USA, First and Club World passengers are allowed to check in three bags whilst World Traveller Plus are allowed two and World Traveller are now only allowed one bag.

The allowances on domestic UK flights are only one bag unless you are making an ongoing British Airways international connection in which case the long haul allowance prevails.

All free checked bags must be 23 kgs (51 lbs) or less though First and Club World are allowed up to 32 kgs (70 lbs). World Traveller Plus and World Traveller can pay £30 ($50) to increase their allowance to 32 kgs.

Excess baggage charges have been standardised at £40 ($60) for the first extra bag and £90 ($140) for subsequent extra bags. These charges are reduced to £32 ($48) and £72 ($112) respectively if booked online.

For domestic flights the charges are £35 ($50) for each additional bag if paid at the airport and £28 ($40) if paid online.
