Places To Stay In Florida

When it comes to deciding where you want to stay, you are spoilt for choice. With the number of visitors that come to Florida each year, there are hundreds of hotels, motels, inns and bed & breakfasts, vacation homes (villas), condominiums (apartments) and campgrounds to choose from.

If you want something a bit more permanent then there is always the option of buying a timeshare property in Florida. Note that timeshares are often described as villas but usually they are in fact condominium apartments.

If the security of ownership is appealing to you, but you are not one to stay at the same resort year after year, consider that major chains like Westgate timeshare allow trading between resorts. As research is important, you can read further information on our timeshare page, or you may want to look in to timeshares for rent online, to try out the lifestyle before you think about a purchase.

These days the differences between hotels, motels, inns and bed and breakfasts (B & Bs) is less apparent, with some companies offering more facilities than the traditional roadside motel but cheaper than a typical hotel.

The quality of accommodation is generally high no matter what sort of place you choose, it really depends on your lifestyle and the amenities that you prefer.

When trying to decide on the type of accommodation, you need to decide if you:

  • want some or all of your meals provided
  • require baby sitting services and other children's activities
  • want use of fitness rooms and game centres
  • are looking for a bit of 'old Florida'
  • like the freedom to come and go as you please
  • plan on staying in one place or touring and if you
  • prefer to be more independent with your own private swimming pool away from the hustle and bustle of the masses

Note that if you book directly with the accommodation provider you usually pay just for the room per night and not per person per night.

Bear this in mind when comparing prices, particularly if you are going through a package tour operator who will often charge supplements for smaller groups.
