Wyndham Vacation Resorts Membership

Fairfield were one of the first to switch over to a points based system (similar to the way that the Disney Vacation Club operate today) rather than being based on fixed or floating weeks.

You still purchase a deeded ownership at a specific place and location each year but you automatically receive an allotted number of Fairfield FairShare Plus points based on the size of the unit, location and season. Note that some Fairfield properties on the resale market are sold on a right-to-use basis which means they are for a fixed lease period, not in perpetuity.

Like most points based systems, it gives you the ultimate flexibility but it also means you may need to book up well in advance to secure the resort and time of year you want.

Wyndham Vacation Resorts properties are deeded in perpetuity and are transferable to family and friends.

The cost to join Wyndham Vacation Resorts varies depending on how many FairShare Plus points you wish to purchase. A typical purchase of $13,500 will get you around 84,000 FairShare Plus points which works out at around $160 per 1,000 points. This will guarantee you a weeks vacation at most resorts. You can also purchase additional credits at a later date.

If you purchase the equivalent of at least 300,000 points then you become a VIP member which allows you a 25% point discount if the reservation is made within 60 days. 500,000 points gets you VIP Gold level and 1,000,000 points is VIP Platinum level.

Annual maintenance fees are typically around $300 to $700 and include your annual membership of the RCI exchange program.

Wyndham Vacation Resorts FairShare Plus Points

You are allocated your FairShare Plus points on the anniversary of your original purchase; equal to the original number purchased.

Points must either be used during the year or you may borrow from next year. You can also rent additional points, convert them into maintenance dollars or exchange them through the Resort Condominiums International (RCI) program. Once converted into RCI, they are available for up to two years before they expire.

Another benefit of the points system is that you can stay as little as two nights, a week or even a month, it just depends on the time of year you wish to travel, how large a unit you require and how many points you want to spend. You also have access to 90 affiliate and associate resorts worldwide.

Seasons are denoted as Prime, High, Value and Quiet and will vary by resorts.

You can break up the week into as little as 2 day blocks at some resorts though at others, you must book a full week.

Wyndham Vacation Resorts Perks

You get free membership to RCI as part of your annual maintenance fee which gives you the ability to trade your points with over 3,700 resorts worldwide (fees apply).

You can trade your points for stays at more than 6,400 franchised hotels in the Wyndham Hotel Group or use them for other travel-related products and services like cruises on Carnival and many other cruise lines.
