The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex offer a number of ticket options including single day tickets, a range of “Special Interest” tours and annual passes. Note that the “Special Interest” tours can be purchased separately or in conjunction with a normal single day ticket; i.e. single day admission is included in the price of the tour ticket.

Single day tickets vary depending upon whether you visit on a normal operations day or a rocket launch day. Note that not all rocket launches are open to the public.

All general admission tickets include the Space Shuttle Atlantis℠ attraction, IMAX® Theater 3-D Films, the Shuttle Launch Experience® ride, Heroes & Legends, general viewing for rocket launches, the Apollo/Saturn V Center, a general bus tour and other exhibits.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Single Day Ticket options are:

For admission to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, children under 3 are admitted for free and children between the aged of 3 and 11 may purchase a child ticket.

Children aged 12 and above must purchase an adult ticket.

Launch Days

Back when admission to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex was free, you had to apply to NASA for special launch day passes. Now that you have to pay to enter the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, you can purchase a special launch day viewing ticket from one of several viewing areas. You can also watch the launch from the main visitor complex through the initial launch is obscured by trees. You can also watch some launches from the Apollo/Saturn V Center, sometimes for free and sometimes you have to buy a viewing ticket.

You can also purchase a special transportation ticket which allows you to watch the launch from the NASA causeway or the LC–39 Observation Gantry area. A general admission ticket to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is also required.

Not all launches from the Kennedy Space Center are open for viewing by the general public as the launch windows are sometimes outside the normal operating hours of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

Tickets for launch days are only offered for a limited time immediately prior to a launch and must be purchased in advance but bear in mind that the tickets are only valid for a particular mission. You will also have to pay UPS shipping charges.

For launches late in the day, you can sometimes get a limited admission ticket which is only valid after a certain time of day.

All launch transportation/viewing Kennedy Space Center tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE to another launch mission. They are only valid for the specific mission. You should carefully check the cancellation terms and conditions prior to buying your ticket as once you board the bus to drive to the viewing area, the ticket is deemed to have been used even if the mission is then scrubbed.

Because there is no guarantee that a rocket will launch at a particular time or even on a particular day, you have to be prepared for disappointment. It took us two goes to see a shuttle launch; on our first attempt the launch was delayed by several days (until after our holiday ended) and luckily on the second attempt it was only delayed for a few hours but that didn’t matter, it was well worth the wait.

Don’t forget that you can also watch a rocket launch from the nearby area outside of the NASA complex.
