In the 1987 film 'Planes, trains and automobiles' starring Steve Martin and John Candy they used all forms of transport to try and reach their final destination.

Most people who visit Florida arrive by air, particularly if you are travelling from Europe but of course you can also arrive overland by road or rail or by sea (cruises).

We once met a family who were visiting Walt Disney World for a long weekend, having travelled by car from Wyoming (fours days driving each way).

Whilst in Florida, many people rent a car when they arrive but it is possible to vacation inĀ Florida without a car

When considering booking your travel it pays to shop around as there are many choices from high street travel agents to TV teletext services, internet travel sites or booking directly with the airline.

Because of Florida's popularity as a holiday destination, flights book up very quickly so don't leave it until the last minute to try and book.

If you plan to travel to Florida over peak seasons such as Christmas and Easter or during school holidays then you need to book well in advance.

Do bear in mind though that if you cannot get a direct flight to the Florida holiday destination of your choice, you can always consider flying into another major US city such as Atlanta, Washington or Chicago for example and then taking an internal flight to Florida.
