Walt Disney World Tickets – UK Price Comparison from previous years
This example gives a good indication of comparative pricing between a 7-Day Magic Ticket and their USA 7-Day Multi-Park counterpart in the value season:
- 7-Day Disney UK Magic ticket for use in 2022 would have cost you £469 including all taxes and be valid for 7 days in a 15 consecutive day window from the date of first use
- An equivalent 7-Day Walt Disney World theme park ticket with the Park Hopper Plus Option would have cost around $623 including all taxes and would be valid for any 7 days in 10 consecutive days
A Typical Price Comparison
The Park Hopper Plus option includes the two water parks as well as park hopping, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Disney’s Oak Trail golf course, Disney’s Fantasia Gardens and Summerland Miniature Golf Courses and basically offers the same benefits as provided by the Disney Magic Tickets with the exception of Memory Maker.
The advanced purchase Memory Maker add-on option would have been an additional $169 in 2022 which would increase the costs of the USA-purchased tickets to around $803 including taxes.
Assuming an exchange rate of 1.2 between UK Sterling and US Dollars, the UK 7-Day Magic Ticket would have worked out at about $563 including taxes which is slightly cheaper than the USA equivalent multi-day ticket (without Memory Maker) if you visit in the low season.
However, if you were not bothered about park hopping, the water parks and all the other options including Memory Maker then you could buy a USA 7-day one park a day ticket for about $511 which is less than the equivalent Magic Ticket.
Disney World Season Ticket Price Comparisons
So for a typical Value season date for a 2022 comparison, assuming all Sterling prices are converted to US Dollars at a rate of 1.2 and include taxes:
- 7-Day Disney Magic Ticket = $563
- 7-Day Disney Ticket (one park per day) = $511
- 7-Day Disney Ticket with Park Hopper Plus option = $623
- 7-Day Disney Ticket with Park Hopper Plus option and Memory Maker = $803
For the Peak season around Christmas time:
- 7-Day Disney Magic Ticket = $635
- 7-Day Disney Ticket (one park per day) = $643
- 7-Day Disney Ticket with Park Hopper Plus option = $760
- 7-Day Disney Ticket with Park Hopper Plus option and Memory Maker = $940
Note that prices for multi-day Walt Disney World theme park tickets vary by start date on a daily basis so it is difficult to provide an exact comparison.
Disney’s 14-Day Magic Ticket is typically only an extra £20 but Disney often has a deal where you get a 14-Day Magic ticket for the price of a 7-Day Magic ticket).
Either way, the 14-day ticket is a good deal compared to buying your ticket in the USA as the most days you can even buy on a multi-day ticket in the USA is 10 days unless you purchase an annual pass.
In 2019 Disney introduced a new special 2-day ticket for the Summer but it was only valid until August 27, 2019, just before Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened and unlike the other tickets it did not allow park hopping.
Remember you also need to budget $25 per day for parking no matter which ticket you buy.
Differences between the old Disney Ultimate Tickets and the new Disney Magic Tickets
Disney stopped selling the old-style Disney Ultimate Tickets and replaced them with the new Disney Magic Tickets.
Disney has made a couple of changes between the two types of tickets, firstly the new Magic Tickets are now seasonally priced whereas the Disney Ultimate Tickets were priced purely by calendar year.
For the purpose of Disney Magic Tickets, there are three seasons (ranked from cheapest to most expensive):
- Value – low season when the parks tend to be quieter
- Regular – various holiday seasons around Easter, Summer, Halloween and Thanksgiving
- Peak – Christmas and New Year
The seasonal price is dictated by the first date of the ticket so it pays to look carefully at the booking calendar when choosing your start date as moving your dates a couple of days either way could affect the price.
Also the original 7-day and 14-day Ultimate Tickets were valid for up to 7 or 14 separate day visits over a period of 14 days.
The new Magic Tickets can be used for 7 or 14 visits over a slightly longer period of 15 or 18 days respectively.
There also used to be a 21-day Disney Ultimate Ticket which offered excellent value for money if you could take 21 days of Disney!! At present, the 21-day ticket is no longer for sale.
Note that the tickets run from the first date selected when initially purchasing the tickets but you still need to make sure you make a reservation for each planned day you make a theme park visit.
