Walt Disney World Resort Hotels come in many styles and shapes. From the fun and quirky to the elegant and luxury Disney experience. Disney Resorts also cater for all budgets and they can be surprisingly cheaper in some cases than you may think. Given the location of the Disney hotels, they make for a great option for convenience and budget and they add the special wow factor to your Disney experience.

Each hotel in the Disney Resorts range has its unique theme, facilities, and offerings that will make for the perfect match for every type of holidaymaker. We’ll try and break down the key highlights in this article so you can narrow down your search and investigate your chosen resort in more detail.

The convenience of staying close to the parks at a Disney World Resort hotel is certainly one major advantage but that isn’t the only factor. There’s early access to Disney Genie / FastPass+ to book your rides ahead of the non-resort guests and the extra magic hours in the parks. Each resort also has a range of transportation options. All resorts have the bus transportation option, whilst several resorts have boat and monorail options for quick and efficient travel to and from the parks.

Overview of Disney World Resort Hotels

When planning your stay, you’ll find the Disney World resort hotels are categorized into four main categories, Value, Moderate, Deluxe, and Deluxe Villa resorts.

Deluxe Resorts are Disney’s flagship premium hotels offering luxury facilities, signature restaurants, and are generally closer to the parks.

Moderate Resorts are the middle ground in terms of facilities, quality, and cost. They generally have higher-quality styling and offer great services and facilities such as table-service dining and luxury rooms.

Value Resorts are the most affordable of the Disney World resort hotels. They generally feature larger-than-life artwork with each hotel theme and offer standard hotel rooms.

Last not not least, we have the Deluxe Villas. These luxury villas offer more privacy and home comforts. These range from the smaller studios to the larger multi-bedroom villas with a large lounge and kitchen.

Disney World Deluxe Resorts

Deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World are the premium Disney hotels, with the highest quality service and the best facilities. They are generally closer to the parks with more transport options (monorail and boats).

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, you have amazing safari views outside of your room, overlooking the park’s roaming wildlife. This is an African-themed resort with unique dining experiences and decor that gives you the feeling of being on an African safari holiday.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort is a New England-styled beach hotel. It has a very charming presence and is within walking distance of EPCOT and Disney’s BoardWalk area.

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will give you the vibes of Atlantic City from the past with beautiful views overlooking Crescent Lake. There’s plenty of entertainment on offer, with good shopping and dining options along the Boardwalk.

  • Boating – either rental boats or boat transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios
  • Carnival-themed Luna Pool with slides for the kids. There’s also a whirlpool spa to relax in

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort has a very modern design with a monorail running directly through the atrium. The convenience of having the monorail within a few steps of your room and with it being within walking distance of Magic Kingdom will push this to the top of most location and accessibility lists.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is one of the most elegant hotels within Disney World with its 5-star decor. You’ll find award-winning dining and full-service spa treatments here, with easy access to the monorail.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney’s Polynesian Village will give you the feeling of being on a tropical island with its exotic design and landscape. The resort has a very appealing pool design next to a volcano which will make you feel like you’re at a water park. The hotel is also close to Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful escape, that offers beautifully grand, luxury cabins. The rooms are decorated in a similar log cabin style, giving you a very relaxed feeling after a long day of walking around the parks.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

At Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, you could easily forget that you are in Disney World as you embrace the New England Yacht Club surroundings. The hotel is nautical-themed with luxury facilities and beautiful views over Crescent Lake.

Disney World Moderate Resorts

The Moderate Disney World Resorts aim to offer a better quality stay over the Value resorts but aren’t quite the standard of the signature Deluxe Disney hotels. For this, they offer a reasonable balance of price and quality.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has the Caribbean twist that you will expect with a slight Moroccan edge in areas. There is a really fun pirate-themed pool, lots of dining options, and this is all surrounded by a beautiful lake and gardens.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort combines Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest American cultures in its design and also offers the same dining options for its cuisine. The hotel has 1,921 generous rooms, a pool with a great slide, and a rooftop dining option with panoramic views.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter is lined with cobblestone streets with jazz music often playing in the background. It leans on the New Orleans vibe to create a unique atmosphere. It has a lovely setting next to the Sassagoula River and is surrounded by lush gardens.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside is very similar to the French Quarter resort with the Louisiana vibe and location next to the Sassagoula River. The main differences between the two are that the Riverside resort is slightly larger, on the opposite side of the river, and offers a restaurant (which the French Quarter does not).

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are surrounded by 750 acres of forest giving you that wild adventure feel. The cabins are very cozy and homely to sleep in and the resort offers lots of outdoor activities such as horseback riding and archery.

Disney World’s Value Resort Hotels are the most affordable of the group and offer comfort and a fun-themed stay. You will remember your stay here with the unique designs of each resort.  

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort celebrates all of the Disney classic films and you will find some larger-than-life icons dotted around the resort. There’s also a really fun 101 Dalmatians area and a Fantasia-themed pool.

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort is a music-themed resort again with larger-than-life music statues. The resort includes many well-sized family suites and a guitar-shaped pool.

Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is full of larger-than-life sports decorations dotted throughout the resort. You may well think you’re about to receive a pass in the NFL when you’re walking around the grounds on the astro turf pitch they have. The resort is very cheerful and exciting, with plenty to explore and good transport links.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort brings your favorite Pixar and Disney movies to life with their famous movie scene environments and large movie characters. If you love swimming you won’t be disappointed with Disney World’s biggest resort pool ‘The Big Blue Pool’, inspired by Finding Nemo. Similar to the other value resorts, you get a spacious room, with some rooms catering to larger families.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort is full of excitement and creativity with larger-than-life Disney decorations. The resort offers standard room sizes with options to cater to larger families. There’s a food court for merchandise shopping and dining called ‘Everything Pop’. The food court offers a range of dining options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Disney World’s Deluxe Villas

Disney Vacation Club Resorts offer a variety of themed accommodations. Each resort provides a unique experience with luxury amenities and the comfort of home. The main difference between the Deluxe Resort and the Deluxe Villas is the facilities within the rooms. Generally, the Deluxe villas have multiple bedrooms with a kitchen and dining space, whereas the deluxe resorts are your standard hotel room.

Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Bay Lake Tower has a very sleek, modern design. The hotel also offers a great viewing spot for watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks in the evening away from all the Disney crowds. This resort has great transportation links within walking distance to the monorail services and there’s a good range of dining options, pools, and amenities. The tower offers studio and villa accommodation options with more space and facilities within the room than the other Contemporary Resort rooms.

Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Boulder Ridge Villas is encapsulated within the picturesque Wilderness Lodge resort. The rooms offer a spacious stay with kitchenette options and more space to lounge around than most of the rooms available at the Wilderness Lodge.
