Star Wars fans will be in awe as they enter Disney’s largest-ever single expansion project, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. The Star Wars lands are built at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s California Adventure. This highly themed immersive experience is based on a frontier trading post on a gateway planet on the outer rim. Whilst not based on a specific planet, it offers a unique but familiar feel. This new planet is called Batuu.
All the restaurants and shops are run by inhabitants of the planet and you will get the chance to grab a drink at the Star Wars Cantina as seen in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The very first film in the series. Look out for the Tatooine blue milk.
The existing Star Tours – The Adventures Continue has been enhanced to include new adventures based on locations and characters from the most recent Star Wars VII film, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”. As before each ride will be unique, offering random ride sequences.
Complimenting the existing Star Tours simulator ride are two new attractions. One puts guests in the middle of a climactic “Battle of First Order” between the First Order and the Resistance. The other allows guests to get behind the controls of the Millennium Falcon on a special secret mission.
Star Wars Attractions
Disney’s Hollywood Studios offers several big attractions that bring the epic saga to life.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
At the heart of the Star Wars experience in Hollywood Studios lies Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This is an expansive 14-acre area that transports visitors to the remote planet of Batuu. You can explore the space marketplace and encounter characters. This impressive area will make you feel like you’re on another planet, far, far, away.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Within Galaxy’s Edge, pilots get a chance to control the iconic Millennium Falcon. This interactive masterpiece will group you into roles as you board the ride. There’s the pilot, gunner, or engineer that you will become to complete the smuggling mission. The performance of each group affects the outcome of the experience so you could ride this many times and get a different experience each time.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is one of the most advanced and immersive attractions Disney has ever created. To start the experience, you are caught in the crossfire of a battle between the Resistance and the First Order. This is an amazing experience and ride that breaks the boundaries of ride technology to date.
Meet the Star Wars Character Experiences
Disney’s Hollywood Studios offers guests the unique opportunity to meet and interact with their favorite Star Wars characters. Share a moment with your favorite legendary Jedi or confront some infamous villains. These encounters create memorable experiences for fans of all ages.
Meet Star Wars Characters
At Galaxy Edge, you will have the chance to meet a selection of Star Wars characters. Character meet and greets are scattered throughout the park, including Star Wars Launch Bay. Here you’re likely to run into beloved characters such as Chewbacca and BB-8. Those seeking the meeting a more sinister character can come face-to-face with Darth Vader. Each meeting area is designed to reflect the characters’ respective environments.
Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple
Padawans between the ages of 4 and 12 can participate in Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. This interactive show provides the opportunity for aspiring Jedi to learn the ways of the Force and put their skills to the test. Here you will meet characters like Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. The experience requires registration, which is available on a first-come basis at the park. Parents are encouraged to sign up their children early, as spots are highly sought after. The Jedi Training Academy has been updated with a new villain to battle.
At the interactive Star Wars Launch Bay, guests have the opportunity to meet with Star Wars characters from all seven films. You get to see costumes and props, play games, and purchase special merchandise and food.
