For the first time in 2022 Busch Gardens has introduced their own version of the family friendly Spooktacular halloween event to compliment their adult night time Howl-O-Scream event.
Busch Gardens Spooktacular runs each weekend (Saturdays and Sundays) from early September and is suitable for the whole family.
The 2022 dates are:
- September 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25
- October 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30
In its very first year, Spooktacular at Busch Gardens is on a smaller scale than the one at SeaWorld but like SeaWorld, it is included in the standard daily admission.
It is located towards the back of the park between Iron Gwazi and Sesame Street Safari of Fun.
The fun begins at 12 p.m. each day in the Festival Walkway area and runs for four hours until 4 p.m. It offers a family friendly trick-or-treat experience all included in the standard admission. There are plenty of photo opportunities including bubbles and fog and chances to meet and greet some of the halloween characters.
Costumes are encouraged for children aged 13 and under but anyone who is 14 or over is not allowed to wear a costume. Also face painting is not allowed except by the authorised artists on site.
If you are staying for Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream, note that no costumes are allowed at the Howl-O-Scream event but it isn’t recommended for children anyway.
As well as the new Busch Gardens’s family-friendly Spooktacular event, SeaWorld is also hosting their own SeaWorld Spooktacular event again and there is also LEGOLAND Florida’s Brick-or-Treat, all of which are included with standard daytime admissions.
Magic Kingdom Disney’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separately ticketed evening event that caters for families.
There are a number of activities that you and your family can take part in including a festive hay maze, searching for ghosts and checking out the magical decorations.
Look out for Spencer the Magician at the Kooky Spooky Illusions booth. Get near the front and you might even be asked to help him with one of his tricks.
Busch Gardens’s Halloween Spooktacular dates for 2022
The Spooktacular map leads you along Candy Road to a half a dozen Trick-or-Treat stations each featuring lots of treats and candy including candy from Smarties® and Haribo, cookies and stickers.
You can bring your own bag or you can collect candy in an official bag with a range of reusable bags being available for purchase priced from $3, from the start of the trail.
If you suffer from food allergies, check with a cast member for information on allergen-friendly treats.
The Spooktacular event is hosted by Kandy, a friendly witch-in-training and you can listen to her as she tells you about her love of candy, her journey into becoming a witch and how she accidentally turned some of her friends into Frogs!
Spooktacular Costume Parade
If your child is in a costume they can enter a costume parade led by Kandy. It runs three times each day at 12:30 p.m., 1:45 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.
There is also a catwalk runway for any kid that wants to strut their stuff.
Storytime with Kandy
Next to a lovely pumpkin patch and her bubbling cauldron, Kandy and her friends relate the popular story “Room on the Broom” about a kind witch who invites animals to join her on her broom much to the annoyance of her cat.
Busch Gardens Spooktacular Ticket Prices 2022
Because the Busch Gardens Spooktacular event is included with regular admission, a normal single day or multi-park ticket, Fun Card or Annual Pass will give you admittance but remember it only runs on selected dates.
Sesame Street Kids’ Weekends
Between October 8 and 30, there are Halloween festivities in Sesame Street Safari of Fun at the Sesame Street Kids’ Weekends.
Here you can meet and greet your favourite Sesame Street characters, watch a special Halloween show and take part in the Halloween Furry Friends Dance Party at the Sesame Street Pavilion. Party times are 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
There is also a Sesame Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt and you can get your scavenger hunt sheet at Abby Cadabby’s Treasure Hut gift shop.
