The weather around Jacksonville and the North East of Florida is similar to the panhandle and has a milder climate than the rest of Florida which helps to attract large numbers of visitors throughout the year.

Summers are hot though winters are generally colder between December and February with the risk of frosts. Sea breezes along the Atlantic coast help keep the humidity down.

Overall rainfall is similar to Orlando but is more evenly spread out with less of a peak during the summer months though September is by far the wettest month.

Jacksonville has been spared major hurricane hits in recent times with the last major hit being Hurricane Dora in 1964. As a result, Jacksonville is probably less well prepared than other parts of Florida.
