The new family white-water raft slide, “Miss Adventure Falls”, opened on March 12, 2017 when Typhoon Lagoon re-opened after its annual maintenance period.

The back story of the ride is about a fictional treasure hunter and diver called Captain Mary Oceaneer who was stranded with her ship, the M.S. Salty and her trusty parrot called Duncan at Typhoon Lagoon by a rogue storm. Captain Mary Oceaneer was a member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A) and she collected treasures from around the world.

The themed queue area includes many of the artefacts that were washed ashore including a diving bell, helmets, life rafts and treasure chests.

The rafts are lifted to the top of the ride by a conveyor belt, the first for Disney water parks. On the way you pass the wreck of the M.S. Salty and you will meet and listen to Duncan, the animatronic parrot, also a first for Disney’s water parks.

The ride itself takes you down through a couple of winding tunnels, flumes and waterfalls past a mossy covered head statue, getting you very wet on the way!

Each raft holds two to four people and the ride time is around 2 minutes, one of the longest water park rides at Walt Disney World. The rafts are not that big so are best suited to a family of four rather than four large adults.

Miss Adventure Falls is located near Crush ’n’ Gusher and there are no height restrictions though infants are not allowed.

When first announced last summer, it was to be called “Miss Fortune Falls” but the name was subsequently changed to “Miss Adventure Falls” to better reflect the back story of the fictional Captain Mary Oceaneer.
