The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) often bring one of their two beautifully restored 1920’s Ford Tri-Motor airliners and/or their 1944 Boeing B–17G Flying Fortress to a number of Florida’s regional airfields as part of their EAA Ford Tri-Motor or EAA B–17 Aluminium Overcast Tours.

Two other warbird organisations regularly arrange tours of Florida during the Spring months; namely the Collings Foundation with their Wings of Freedom Tour and the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) with their AirPower History Tour though the CAF have not come to Florida in the last couple of years.

For the 2022 tour, the EAA are touring with one of their two Ford Tri-Motors. One is a 1929 Ford 4-AT-E Tri-Motor “The Tin Goose” airliner in the colours of Eastern Air Transport. They also operate a 1928 Liberty Ford 5-AT-B in the colours of Transcontinental Air Transport.

The B–17G Flying Fortress has not visited Florida since 2106.

They fly into a number of regional airports and ground tours are sometimes available priced at $10 for adults and children over the age of 7. Children under 8 are free. Families with children up to the age of 17 can buy a family ticket for $20.

You can get some idea of what it was like to fly in these amazing aircraft with air experience rides being available. The Tri-Motors seat 9 or 10 passengers and each passenger has a window seat.

Each flight experience lasts about 30 minutes with 15 minutes being airborne.

For the Ford Tri-Motor, advance purchase flight tickets are $72 for adults and $52 for children (17 and under). Walk-up prices are $77. For an additional fee, you can ride in the copilot’s seat for the ultimate experience.
