The Universal Dining Plan was one of the family favotrites when it was around. Sadly, Universal decided to discontinue their dining plan in 2021 and the have been no announcements yet that they are bring this back. We’ll detail what the Universal Dining Plan looked like below though so you can get a view on what you could see in the future if they decide to bring it back.

The following content relates back to when the Universal Dining Plan was still available.

One thing that is becoming more popular at the parks these days is the idea of a meal deal. This allows you to budget more accurately on your food bills during your visits to the park.

In November 2013, Universal dropped its original meal deal and replaced it with a second version of the Universal Dining Plan, similar to Disney’s Dining Plan. They also offered a character breakfast and a special evening dining experience.

Universal Studios Florida® operate two theme parks in Orlando, Universal Studios Florida and the new roller-coaster park, Islands of Adventure plus Volcano Bay water park and the music and entertainment venue, Universal CityWalk®.

If you do not want to buy a full-blown dining plan, then you can buy either:

  • a Despicable Me Character Breakfast
  • a The Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast (Seasonal)
  • a Marvel Character Dinner

Like most of the Florida theme parks, anyone aged 10 or over on the day of their first entry to the theme parks is classed as an adult and will have to buy an adult ticket.

Children between the ages of 3 and 9 are classed as children and may purchase a child ticket.

Children under the age of 3 are admitted for free.

Universal Original Meal Deal

The original Universal Meal Deal basically allowed you to eat just about as much as you liked at one of the participating restaurants, for a fixed price but it was dropped in November 2013 in favour of the Universal Dining Plan – Quick Service.

With the Meal Deal you exchanged your meal deal ticket for a wristband at one of the participating restaurants and then you could get one entrée and one dessert each time you entered the service line.
